There is something very "down home" about the way The Jackson Brothers put their material together to come up with one of these DVDs. For the most part they are right in there on the start line, standing in the smoke of the burnout or 20 feet in front of a launching dragster. The sounds of the track are the soundtrack, with the exception of early footage when they just didn't seem to have the good gear to pull a soundtrack in, they still had whatever they could get their hands on to get the moment.
These things are what makes this particular range of drag racing shows unique, there's not much gloss (except for the paint work on the cars) but you feel like you're right there looking past the cameramans shoulder, in front of them at times, sniffing the fumes and wiping the sting out of your eyes.
To see not just the straight runs but the flips, bends and turns common to the altereds, the bucking runs and prangs of some of drag racing's legendary vehicles and racers up close and natural is just great irreplaceable stuff. How some of these guys survived their drag racing would make interesting reading too but the action here will not disappoint - this is racing history served up raw.
You'll be telling your friends to come over to share these programs for years to come!
